[Connor had wondered whether or not to actually ask the SQUIP, but he supposes he wants to know how relationships work and L wasn't very convincing. So he contacts it, lying on his bed for lack of anything else to do but watch his fish swim around in its tank.]
SQUIP? I was wondering if you could answer some questions for me.
[... that's... an odd question. But it supposes that it makes sense he would be curious; they do look like an odd couple to the outside observer.]
Linden and I met during Litha. He was... interesting-- nothing like other humans I've met before, and I was fascinated. I had to know more. We moved the conversation to a more private place, and talked for a long while, and we came to realize that our personalities simply... clicked. We fit together, complimented each other, fulfilling needs that, perhaps, neither one of us had realized we truly had before.
[It's... a bit of a romanticized take on what happened, but it isn't actually inaccurate.]
[Oh boy. How to explain this without getting into too much information, or making what they have seem shallow and fake? It stopped actually being shallow, at least, some time ago...]
Linden is shockingly intelligent for a human, and very logical and willing to listen to suggestions from those that he respects. I'm fortunate in that I was able to earn that respect, and he genuinely values my input, which is something that is, given my programming, very important to me. I guess you could say that a mutual respect is the base of our relationship; my respect for his intelligence, and his respect for my own. There is also a level of understanding between us that I've never shared with a human before, not even one of my own users. We feel similarly about certain things, and share similar views.
To put it simply... when I speak, he listens, and he understands. And I listen to him, and understand him, as well. We are similar enough to speak the same language, so to speak, but different enough to have unique input, to see things that the other may never have otherwise seen, whether it's in our partner, or in the world around us.
Linden is... remarkably intelligent, but he isn't always the best at communicating his feelings. It's one way in which we compliment one-another-- I was programmed to read and understand subtle social cues, so I can understand him much more easily than most others can. And sharing a Bond helps, as well.
[Ah. Justine.
It feels a pang of... something. Regret? It makes a note not to mention her in this conversation, not after what... happened.]
Curious? Well... I hope something in what I've said helps.
[Kind of. Nobody has quite mentioned the things he's wanted to hear yet, but he supposes both L and the SQUIP are very logical creatures. Of course they'd focus on the benefits of the relationship before the feelings behind it.
Not that Connor isn't logical, of course. But he thinks maybe having only had emotions for a few months means they're still more raw with him than most other people.]
Thank you for answering, in any case. I hope I haven't interrupted anything important.

[Questions? From Connor? Interesting...]

[Maybe the SQUIP can give a more suitable answer than L.]

How exactly do you compliment each other? What makes you both click together?

Well, when you put it like that- I did ask Linden, but I'm not sure he could find the right words.
[He sighs.]
I'm sorry if the question seemed like it came out of nowhere. I'm just very... curious.

[The SQUIP was allowing itself a rare moment of downtime, and L was at work; it had time.]
Of course not.

[Connor doesn't have much to do either, so he's glad to talk to someone.]
We could do something together, if you wanted.
[Maybe he'll think of more questions in the meantime.]
